The history of Novigrad

A story wrapped in walls

Novigrad was settled in ancient times, and it is mentioned in written documents as Neapolis as far back as the 7th century.

Novigrad enjoyed a renaissance between the 8th and 9th centuries as the seat of a Frankish prince and the starting point for feudalisation. Its favourable position and fertile interior brought conquest by the Lombards, Franks, Venetians, Habsburgs, and Italians. The story of the Novigrad's walls and towers began during Venetian rule in the 13th century. After their construction, the walls were renovated a number of times, and are perhaps the best witness to the town's identity and the many builders of its proud history.

Fantastic tour. The captain and crew were both fun and experienced. We had rough seas, so the tour was postponed to the next day. We saw dolphins. We brought our baby and toddler along. Bringing the kids was no problem at all. The stroller space might be a bit cramped. Definitely recommend. Can't wait to go again.

We really enjoyed the trip! In the end we actually saw dolphins. It was a great sunset and the atmosphere on the boat was very relaxed overall. Our children (6 and 8) found it a bit boring at the beginning, but that wasn't because of the tour... 😉 We can recommend them with a clear conscience!

We hadn't been on our way for long when we got a call from another boat that they had spotted dolphins. We immediately went there, too, and saw several dolphins. It was a super fun experience—definitely a must-do!
